Banana Moon Parent App:
We are very excited to inform you that we went live with the new Banana Moon Parent App on Monday 1st April. The Banana Moon Parent App supports the nursery and parents work together to enhance children’s learning and development. It means that at a click of a button, you can be kept fully updated on how your little ones are getting on and what they’ve been up to each day! Any feedback you may have on the App would be really appreciated!

The children have enjoyed den building, making fires, cooking over the fire, catching rain drops, exploring the various bugs and learning about plants and things that grow in our paddock. Base Camp is a great resource in our paddock which the children enjoy everyday.
Rugby Tots has returned to Banana Moon Hatton on Tuesdays, and the children – and staff! – have been enjoying fun physical activity sessions with Matt from Rugby Tots. The children are really enjoyed lots of running, developing their throwing, catching and kicking skills! We have some budding future rugby players at Banana Moon Hatton!
Easter has really come to Banana Moon Hatton with so many creative activities taking place – and our annual Easter egg hunt! Happy Easter to everyone!
Getting ready for the warmer weather:
In preparation for the weather getting warmer (we hope!), Banana Moon Hatton will now provide the suncream for your child whilst at nursery. It will be Factor 50. However should you prefer a particular brand of suncream, we would ask please that you provide your own (no spray bottles) in a labelled bottle. Thank you.
Two Year Checks:
We provide parents with a full report to support your child’s Two Year Checks with your child’s health visitor. Please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s key worker or the Senior Room Leader to request a copy.
We have continued with our extensive staff training programme for all staff. Our programme includes formal qualifications for staff, additional child development workshops, safeguarding and child protection training and training at our Head Office. Warwickshire County Council also provide a wide range of workshops which a number of staff regularly attend. We also undertake in-house training through staff meetings and other opportunities. Our training programme ensures that all staff are fully equipped to do their job and also provides the opportunity for our staff to be regularly updated and continually improve their personal and professional development.
A number of the staff attended Dandy Development training in March to support the children in the development of their speech and language using singing and signing. Nikki, who is the owner of Dandy Development, led the training which the staff really enjoyed.
World Book Day:
The children, and staff(!), really enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day 2019 in early March. We had such a wide range of the children’s stories represented through fantastic dress up outfits! Thank you to you all for taking part and supporting this great day. There are some photos from the day in the nursery foyer for you to enjoy!
The installation of the new upgraded CCTV system is currently taking place across the whole nursery. The biometric fingerprint system will also be updated. We will contact all parents to inform you when you need to have your fingerprint re-scanned in order to enter the nursery buildings. Decorating will also be taking place during the month of April/May.
Our new sandpit is currently being made and we are investing in more fun equipment for our outdoors during the Spring and Summer.
Banana Moon Hatton Summer School:
Our first Summer School will be taking place this summer from Monday the 29th July to Friday 30th August. The Summer School is only open to our children who have been at Banana Moon Hatton and are now at school. We will be setting it up in the paddock and we are planning a wide variety of activities following a number of themes during the 5 weeks. Further details, including costs, themes and activities, will be sent out by the end of April but please do register your interest with us now in the office.
We are excited about our Summer School and we look forward to a fun packed summer at Banana Moon Hatton!
Our Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea Party:
We had such a lovely afternoon on Friday 29th March celebrating Mother’s Day with over 100 of our Mums and grandparents! The Mums and Grandparents enjoyed activities with their children in their rooms and everyone enjoyed an afternoon tea garden party in our paddock. Thank you to our chef, Chris, for preparing crudites, delicious freshly made sandwiches, wraps, cookies and lots of cakes! And the weather was just fantastic too! Thank you to all our families for their support for our first Mother’s Day event – everyone really enjoyed themselves!
You will be aware that Banana Moon Hatton’s chosen charity is Zoe’s Place, the children’s hospice in Coventry. We made a donation to them for £700 from our fundraising activities last year. One of our parents who is also a very keen supporter of the charity has brought in two collecting tins. These are in the main foyer of the nursery and also one in the Pre-School Barn. It would be really appreciated if you are able to make a donation to this very worthy cause. The money we raise really does make a difference to the children at the hospice and helps to ensure that there is enough staff to care for the children and support their families. Thank you for your support.
Parent’s Information Evening:
We hosted the first Parent’s Information Evening which took place on the 14th March at Shrewley Village Hall. The evening was open to all parents in the nursery and included updates on key developments at the nursery, including the Banana Moon Hatton Parents App, our Summer School plans, our new Behaviour Strategy and plans for all our age groups plus other developments. A question and answer session for parents also took place. The presentation from the evening was circulated to all families, but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at all.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter from Banana Moon Hatton. Please remember that the nursery will be closed on Friday 19th April and Monday 22nd April. We will re-open on Tuesday 23rd April at 7.30 am. Enjoy all the Easter goodies!
